After basic training, you are eligible to become a paratrooper by attending the Airborne School in Ft. Benning, GA. You will conduct a practice jump from the 250 foot tower, and then a live night jump from a C-17 Globemaster III cargo plane. Upon completion, you will receive your jump wings, and become a paratrooper. Being airborne certified is a prerequisite for Ranger Missions and Special Forces Training.

Airborne training is an elite school, training Soldiers for forced entry into the battlefield. Airborne Training is a 3 week course consisting of 3 phases (Ground Week, Tower Week and Jump Week) conducted at Fort Benning, Georgia. To earn your Airborne Wings in America's Army you must complete the two training exercises: 250-Foot Tower and Live Jump.
