TABLE OF CONTENTS

The Vehicle Driving course familiarizes Soldiers with driving skills needed to traverse rough terrain. Unlike civilian transportation, routes are often difficult and dangerous even when there is no enemy threat. It takes practice to handle most military vehicles due to the large weights and differences in gearing compared to civilian vehicles.

The M1114 Up-Armored HMMWV Armament Carrier is widely deployed throughout the Army and is one of the vehicles most Soldiers will use at one time or another during their careers. The vehicle was developed to fill the need for higher protection against small arms, IEDs and mines. It has an upgraded suspension system, a reinforced frame and ballistic protection plating.
