The AA Browser Internet Screen is an exceptionally powerful, fully filterable game server browser. Its advanced functionality enables users to select servers that fulfill their specific requirements whether that be the servers geographical location, mission type, player numbers or many more options.
The Internet Screen is split in to 3 distinct areas. These are Categories, their associated Filters and the Server Window containing the resulting server list. Given the sheer number of filters it is easy to forget what you have selected. If this happens click the "List Filters" button for a list of the filters you have selected. To start again click the "Clear Filters" button.
Categories:
The Categories Section works as a tree structure, with each category containing its associated filters. Each category is listed below and its filters explained.
Missions:
Game Type:
The Game Type filter allows players to select between Multiplayer and Co-Op maps or All to select all Game Types.
Tours:
The Tours Filter enables players to select servers configured with maps represented by the three Mission Types available in America's Army Infantry, Airborne/Ranger and Special Forces.
Maps:
The Maps Filter enables players to select servers that are configured with a specific map.
Honor:
Server Mode:
The Server Mode Filter allows players to select between Honor and Non Honor bearing servers.
Average Honor:
The Average Honor Filter allows players to decide the relative difficulty of the server they join by stipulating the average honor of the players currently on the server. The Higher the Average Honor of the server the more challanging the game will be.
Minimum Honor:
The Minimum Honor Filter allows players to select servers that have a specific honor requirement. The higher the Minimum Honor is set to the higher the Honor level you will need to play on the servers returned by the browser. Players that have an honor of below 10 will need to set this to 1 in order to find servers that can be joined.
Maximum Honor:
Server owners can set a Maximum Honor level for players on their server. This enables newer players to play exclusively against other beginners. Players can use this filter to play against similarly skilled players.
Settings:
Password:
The Password Filter enables players to restrict servers returned by the search to those with or without passwords protecting them.
Punkbuster:
The Punkbuster Filter allows players to select servers that are protected by Punkbuster Anti Cheat Protection. (Note : if Punkbuster Protected servers are selected ensure that the "Enable Punkbuster" check box is checked)
Tournaments:
The Tournament Filter allows players to select servers that are running in Tournament Mode.
Cheats:
The Cheats Filters allows players to search for servers with "Cheats" enabled.
MILES:
The MILES Filter allows players to choose between MILES enabled and Live Fire Servers.
Status:
Players:
The Players filter allows players to filter out empty or full servers from the search.
Current Round:
The current Round Filter allows players to select servers that have just started a round or just about to finish a round (Note : By default a round is made up of 7 games although this can be configured differently by a server admin)
Time Left:
The Time left filter defines how much time is left until the end of the current game on a server. The longer the Time Left selected the longer a player will have to wait to start playing.
Ping:
This filter allows players to select servers that have a maximum ping level. (Note : In general the lower the ping of the server the better the game experience will be.)
Location:
The Location Filter allows players to select servers from a Geographical location close to them. The filter is broken down by Country name.
Joining a Server
Once you have selected all the filters that you wish to use click the "Update Server List" button to display all the relevant servers. The Server Listing is split in to three windows, Server List, Server Info and Server Players. When a server is highlighted in the list its information and players on the server are displayed in the other two windows.
To join the server either double click the server in the list or highlight it and click the "Join Server" button. Right clicking on a server in the list opens a separate server specific menu allowing you to carry out tasks such as adding the server to your favorites list, copying its details to the clipboard and many other useful actions as can be seen above.
Other useful functions of the Internet screen are the "Enable Punkbuster" check box which allows players to join Punkbuster protected servers, and the "Search" function which allows players to search for named servers and players. Just type the details in to the search box and click the "Search" button.
