Special Forces Assessment and Selection Process (SFAS)

Being airborne qualified and having an honor level of 15 makes you eligible to be the best of the best, which is, a Green Beret. The training starts out at Camp Mackall, where you will be introduced to various Special Forces MOS. Lastly, you will be transported by Blackhawk Helicopter to the Escape and Evasion course where your objective is to sneak by simulated OPFORs without being detected. Upon completing of this course you will be granted the ability to participate in Special Forced Missions.

Now more than ever world situations need Special Soldiers. Special Force. To apply you must be a male high school graduate with a minimum GT score of 110. Enlist for 60 months and meet the Special Forces physical fitness requirement. You'll begin at Fort Benning, Georgia with Basic and Advanced Infantry Training and Airborne School.

Upon completion you'll move to Fort Bragg, North Carolina where physical fitness conditioning and advanced land navigation prepare your mind and body for a phase that many volunteers consider the most physically challenging 3 weeks of the course: Special Forces Assessment and Selection. To be selected you must maximize each effort, think positively, stay patient, focused and motivated.

Once selected you begin phase 2 preparation. This begins with primary leadership development and basic noncommissioned officers courses. Then you'll move on to where you'll experience ongoing, intensive training and testing in basic weapons and small unit tactics.

In phase 3 you'll train in your new specialty, either in Weapons with 13 weeks of training in U.S. and foreign weapons or in Engineering with 13 weeks of training in demolitions and basic construction.

In phase 4 your training culminates with a graded field exercise in unconventional warfare followed by an intensive foreign language training school and finally the ultimate test combining all of your skills: Survival Training, which teaches techniques in resistance, evasion and escape. After almost two years of specialized training successful candidates will be promoted to Sergeant.
